World Transplant Games – Dresden, Germany (2025 – Expired)
Made available in association with Transplant Sport UK, we are delighted to announce details of the World Transplant Games Travelling Scholarship Award. Two members of the Society (1 Full Member and 1 Student Member) will travel to Dresden, Germany and join the highly experienced Transplant Sport UK Therapy Team in providing support to the GB & NI team at the World Transplant Games – 17 – 24 August 2025.
They will have the opportunity to:
- learn about transplant sport
- experience work in an international multi-sport environment
- advance your practice through continued professional development
- contribute to the wider aims of the Games to celebrate a second chance of life, demonstrate the success of transplant surgery and promote the need to raise public awareness of organ and tissue donation.
They will attend:
- Team training meetings between October 2024 and June 2025 – first session 2 November 2024, at Radley College, Oxford. A further 2 sessions will be held in 2025, final dates and times tbc.
- The British Transplant Games 31 July – 3 August 2025 in Oxford.
- The World Transplant Games in Dresden between 17-24 August 2025.

World Transplant Games – Perth, Australia (2023 – Expired)
This scholarship provided one lucky SST Member with a fantastic opportunity to attend the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia (April, 2023). The award recipient joined the highly experienced Therapy Team in providing support to the GB and NI team throughout the Games, during the week 15 – 21 April 2023.
Working with Transplant Athletes is a rewarding and inspiring experience for all involved. For Graduate Sports Therapists, it offers a valuable opportunity to utilise their skills/expertise in the care of athletes, whilst also learning about transplantation and adaptations to practice.
