Our Charity: Transplant Sport UK

The Society of Sports Therapists is delighted to announce that Transplant Sport UK is its chosen charity.

Why Transplant Sport?

The Society:

• Recognises the value of taking part in sport for people who have had successful, life-saving transplants, to keep fit and healthy and in providing a space to meet other transplant recipients, transplant donors and their supporters.
• Believes that its Members and family of universities can have a great role to play in supporting Transplant Athletes as they prepare for GB and World sporting events and as they train throughout the year.
• Understands the needs of Transplant Athletes from a health, wellbeing and injury perspective
• Appreciates the great need to increase transplant awareness and organ donation

Raising Funds

Funds are needed to support the multi-disciplinary therapy team, including Sports Therapists who provide support to the Transplantees both at national and international events and as they train throughout the year
The Therapy Teams are self- funded and there is no lottery funding to support them or the athletes. All funds raised by the Society are ring-fenced to support the therapy team with equipment, medical supplies, event travel and accommodation .
