Standards of Proficiency

These standards are, amongst other criteria, the basis against which complaints made against a Sports Therapist are assessed.

The Standards as laid out in this document cover:

  • Professional autonomy and accountability.
  • Professional relationships.

The skills required for the application of practice:

  • Identification and assessment of injury and risk factors associated with participation in exercise and competitive and/or recreational sport.
  • Formulation and delivery of plans and strategies for meeting sports and exercise injury prevention, management and rehabilitation needs.
  • Critical evaluation of the impact of, or response to, the therapist’s actions.
