The protection of the public lies at the heart of the Society’s core values. That’s why Members of The Society of Sports Therapists will have undertaken an accredited programme of study and achieved standards of knowledge and competence that are recognised and recommended by both the Society, as the lead professional body for Sports Therapists in the UK and by leading organisations, Governing Bodies and the NHS.

Today, membership of The Society of Sports Therapists is through successful completion of a Sports Therapy degree from a Society Accredited University or College.

Our Members:

  • Work at all levels of the sporting spectrum from elite to grass roots
  • Are required to undertake CPD annually to maintain their right for re-registration
  • Must hold a current and valid first aid qualification as a mandatory pre-requisite for membership
  • Must meet required levels of competencies and knowledge to be covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance

Members are bound by the Society’s professional codes of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and subject to strict disciplinary procedures should codes be broken. These serve to protect not only the Member but also the public, with whom they come in contact.
