Cardiff City Women are seeking an experienced Lead Sports Therapist to lead the provision of sports therapy and medical support for the Women’s First Team.
The successful candidate will lead the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play management of players, alongside injury prevention and player wellbeing. The role will work closely with coaching, performance and medical staff to support player availability and performance throughout the season.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play processes.
- Providing medical provision across training sessions and matchdays, including pitch-side emergency care.
- Developing injury prevention strategies and supporting player screening and monitoring.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary performance and medical team.
- Leading and maintaining high standards of clinical governance and medical provision across the Women’s programme.
- Supporting Academy medical staff and therapists where required.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with relevant safeguarding, governance and regulatory requirements.
Essential requirements:
- BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy or equivalent.
- Current Society of Sports Therapists membership.
- Valid ITMMiF or equivalent First Aid qualification.
- Experience leading injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-play processes in elite football.
- Experience providing pitch-side emergency and matchday cover.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary performance and medical team.
Experience in women’s sport and relevant postgraduate or additional qualifications would be desirable.
